About Our Farm
Ladybird Organics is a certified organic 50-acre farm and vineyard featuring Muscadine grapes. Cynthia Connolly developed this operation in 1989 with a vision of producing diversified, organic food in a sustainable system. Her worm operation provides the rich humus-- worm castings--that supports the health and growth of all plants on the farm. Other crops include:
Citrus (Meyer Lemons, Satsuma oranges, Marsh grapefruit, Loquat)
Micro-greens or soil-based sprouts: Sunflower, Pea, Buckwheat and Wheatgrass
Persimmon
Pear
Other fruits and nuts: mulberry, fig, blueberry, pecan
Cynthia received her Ph.D. in Agricultural Education and Agricultural Engineering in 1980 from Iowa State University, the first woman in the country to achieve this degree. She worked internationally with food production in developing countries before starting her own farm in Florida.
